143 години свободен Асеновград

Официално освободен от турско робство е Асеновград точно преди 143 години. По време на руско-турската война от 1877 г. – 1878 г. генерал Виктор Дандевил е назначен за командир на трета пехотна гвардейска дивизия. След падането на Плевен, неговите части успяват да освободят Етрополе и при изключително тежки зимни условия с много жертви преминават Балкана.

На 18-ти януари точно на мястото, на което към днешна дата е разположен паметникът на Виктор Дандевил в Асеновград, с камбанен звън е посрещнат освободителят на Станимака. Така, преди 143 години свободата огрява Асеновград. Честването беше открито от Представителният духов оркестър на ВВС-Пловдив и продължи с приемане на почетен караул на Военно формирование 24490 в Асеновград. Беше отслужена заупокойна панихида от асеновградски свещеници.

Слово по случай празничния ден произнесе професор Димо Чешмеджиев – доктор на историческите науки и преподавател в ПУ „Паисий Хилендарски“. В знак на признателност към саможертвата на освободителите асеновградчани поднесоха венци и цветя пред паметника на генерал-майор Виктор Дезидериевич Дандевил.
